This beer pours a hazy, medium golden yellow colour, with one very anemic finger of mostly just wanly bubbly dirty white head, which leaves some sparse and varied sub-atomic particle lace around the glass as things quickly move southwards. Jan 28, 2018Ģ2oz bottle, nice to see another Washington state brewery represented up here in Alberta. Overall it's OK, I won't really knock it, but it's not great. It finishes dry and fruity with a light bit of acidity that helps to balance it in lieu of bitterness - although I'm still suspicious of that sourness, I'm not sure it's not intended to be there. In the end it's OK anyway so who cares? In the mouth it's light bodied and gently crisp. Ahh, I see there's some yeast in the bottom of the bottle, perhaps it's just from yeast, but as there's not dating on it I have no idea where it's really coming from. As an American blonde ale I think it hits all the right notes, although that slight tartness is concerning to me. Looking back there is some very nice lacing left behind - nice. It's not bland, but it's not exciting, and it's certainly accessible. It's grainy, a touch floral and fruity, and gently sweet but then dry in the finish although the bitterness never stands out. The flavor backs that up, although there is a slight tartness to it. There's nothing off though, and it's fairly welcoming. hmmm, not much there, some sweetish, almost perfumey malt & fruitiness. I've definitely got a "beer clean" glass by the way, so it's not that. It's settling quickly though, and not leaving any lacing behind which is not good. It's at least two fingers thick but it didn't try to climb out of the glass. Notes via stream of consciousness: A nice head of fluffy white has risen over its clear golden body as I've poured it. brown glass bottle without production codes or freshness dating Scuttlebutt Brewing Company "Homeport Blonde"ġ2 fl.
